The Labour Market Information Unit (LMIU) was established under the Ministry of Labour Relations and Manpower to formulate a systematic labour market information system. Its main responsibility is collecting ,analyzing and disseminating up to date comprehensive labour market information of the country, to all users of such information including policy makers, planners, researchers etc.

The LMIU publishes LMI Bulletin bi-annually which covers the important areas, directly related to the labour market. Also it publishes reports of the surveys, undertaken occasionally.

The LMIU staff is assisted by the Secretary and the Additional Secretary (Employment) of the ministry.

Objectives

Collect, analyze and disseminate information on employment, unemployment, underemployment and other Labour Market and demographic information
Produce and disseminate Labour Force and Employment projections.
Collect, analyze and disseminate compensation, security, strikes & disputes, job safety statistics.
Produce and disseminate productivity data series and comparative international measures.

Updating and maintaining a centralized Labour Market Information automation system.

Improve the quality of the output through the application of Technological and Statistical measures .
Enhance the coordination and cooperation with information providers.
